Protecting your property from water leaks

If you are experiencing high water bills, damp spots, a constant turning water meter or foul odours arising from broken sewer or water pipes, give Forensic Plumbing a call immediately so one of our experienced plumbers can locate and repair your water leak to avoid further damage.
Finding Leaks
We use only the latest technology to identify hidden leaks. This includes acoustic leak detection equipment, thermal imaging cameras, hydrogen gas, digital cameras and CCTV drain cameras. We can accurately locate the leak without destruction using ultrasound equipment. We can also locate leaks by inserting hydrogen gas into your irrigation system to detect the specific area of where water is escaping from the pipe.
Once the leak has been located, we ensure it is repaired in a cost effective and timely manner.
Do you suspect a water leak but can't detect it?
Often a water leak can go unnoticed until damage appears. If you happen to live below another property, you may be completely unaware they have a water leak until water starts to run down your walls, drip through your ceiling, or part of the ceiling collapses. Whatever the cause, the following should be carried out urgently:
- Locate the water leak and immediately have it repaired, or alternatively, turn the water supply off
- Call Forensic Plumbing to book in one of our experienced plumbers to locate and repair the leak
- Take images of the damaged areas and affected items, to use for future reference
- Remove wet items of furniture and floor coverings and set aside for drying and cleaning
- Introduce controlled, warm heating and install commercial dehumidifiers and drying fans
Bathroom and wet area non-invasive testing
Does your current bathroom, powder room, kitchen or laundry have a musty smell or there is an evident water concern? These rooms may look dry but it could easily have elevated moisture levels hiding something more sinister below the floor tiles.
Forensic Plumbing can undertake a full investigation, locate the water leak and repair it for you.
Water leak detection equipment
Acoustic leak detection
When we know where the general location of the leak is, acoustic leak detection will pinpoint where the leak is in the pipe. The sound sensor on the locator notifies our plumbers where the location of the leak is by sounding out the leak in the pipes using acoustic sound.
Thermal imaging
The thermal imaging equipment shows an electromagnetic image of your property and is an effective way to pinpoint the trouble spot of where the water is leaking. This finds leaks quickly that cannot be seen by the naked eye, is non-invasive and can be viewed within minutes without damaging your property.
Tracer gas detection
This is used in highly sensitive areas or where there are buried pipe lines. The gas tracer carrying either hydrogen or helium is injected into the area and if a leak is present, the gas will come to the surface where it is then detected by the gas detector.
